Re-Post: Thoughts on Goals + Freebie

It’s almost New Years and that means most of us are starting to think about setting goals for 2012.

I have set goals in my life a bunch of times… passing AP Calculus, getting a date to prom, getting into college, playing the violin in the Utah Youth Symphony, getting married in the LDS Temple, and a bunch of others. Each time I set a goal and I achieve it I [re] realize how fun and important setting goals really is! I have also set several goal involving this blog and business. Some of those goals have been completed, others are still just ideas in my head, and a few haven’t turned out like I had hoped. But that is okay! That’s the best part about goals! If you don’t complete it in time, or need alter your goal you can!!

Here are some of my thoughts on  goals….

After you set a goal you need to  follow through and make sure you have things in place to help you actually achieve the goal….

1st – Decide what you want and set a goal. Maybe you want to have a 1,000 followers on your blog. Maybe you want to have 50 sales in your Etsy shop. Maybe you want to increase you blog traffic by a specific percentage. Make it a goal that you can gauge. Don’t just say “I want to have a really cool blog.” That is too general. You need to be able evaluate and see your progress

2nd – Set up an end date for your goal. You need a finish line to work towards! If you get to the finish line and you haven’t quiet achieved your goal you can extend your goal and keep trying, but set a finish date for yourself!

3rd - Set up “check points” If your goal finish date is in 3 months make a specific time each month when you will evaluate your progress. Check and see how your doing.

4th – Make sure you tell people about your goal. Ask for help and/or motivation! My husband is my cheerleader and idea bouncer! Make sure you get your friends and/or family involved in your goals!

5th – Make sure during your whole goal process you are writing everything down! Better yet, pin your goal sheet on your fridge where you can see it everyday!! To help out with the step I have made a FREE printable GOAL TRACKER!

Hire Blog Help

Today I want to tell you about a new e-book I just read! It is called Hire Blog Help. This 84 page e-book talks about how as a blogger and/or business owner it can he beneficial to hire someone to help you behind the scenes,  a virtual assistant. Someone that can help answer emails, help with social media, advertising, etc…

Now let me say first…. that I am not planning on hiring someone to help with my blog at this point, I’m just not there yet.

I bought this e-book mostly out of curiosity. I always *love* getting a sneak peak into the lives of bloggers and shop owners. It is amazing that these women have done SO much with blogging and creating a handmade business. I bought this book to get a peak into how they run their buinesses and how they have hired blog help!  I guess I am just a little bit of a nosey person like that? :)

And guess what? This book satisfied my curiosity! :)

Not only was it jam pack with info on who, what, when, where, why and how to hire a blog assistant but it was also just a COOL book to read for reading sake. :)

All these awesome women have contributed to this 84 page book…

Lindsey Cheney, The Pleated Poppy
Lisa Leonard, Lisa Leonard Designs
Tsh Oxenreider, Simple Mom Media
Leigh Ann Keffer & Kyla Roma, Freckled Nest
Maggie Whitley, Gussy Sews
Lisa Morosky, The Home Life [and Me]

Small Business Details + Moo

I love when I purchase something handmade and it come with a little business card, cute little tag, or a sticker with the businesses logo! It just makes the experiences that much better! Don’t you agree?

Although I don’t have a “handmade” business [technically it is handmade, just on my computer :) ] I wanted to still try and incorporate a few little touches to make it a more personal experience! I came up with the idea to send clients “thank you” postcards! I made up a postcard design and purchased my postcards on Moo.com! I love being able to send my customers a “physical” product since all my other work is done on the computer!

I have been totally impressed with everything I have ordered on Moo.com. It is easy to order on their website, you can upload your own design, or your can pick from tons of there pre-made designs! And guess what? If you use this link right here and sign up for a new Moo.com account you will get 10% off your order! Sweet huh!

So if you have a etsy shop or handmade business check out the business extras!

ps- I am still accepting sponsors for August! If you are interested just email me! I would love to partner with you!
