A Typical Friday ….

Thanks so much for your input yesterday and filling out my survey! I got tons of helpful info! You all seem to like blogger tutorials and random pieces from my life. I can handle that! :)

Today is friday, and I love fridays! Here is what a typical friday [generally] looks like for me …

Wake up to Sophie saying,”mommy daddy mommy”.

Make pancakes or pour a bowl of resse’s puffs for breakfast. If you ask Sophie which one she wants she almost always picks pancakes.  Probably has something to do with the fact that I put powdered sugar on top which, she immediately licks off.

Next up, make a lunch for Brian and send him off to school.

From then on it’s just me and S. Some days we go to the beach or mall. Sometimes we play in the kitchen sink, play playdoug, or bake cookies. Sometimes she watches Tangled while I do emails. And somedays when she is really hard to keep entertained we do everything listed above, 2x.

Then it’s lunch and nap time. When dinner rolls around, Brian comes home and we hang out until Sophie’s bedtime. Once Sophie goes to sleep [and because it’s friday] we have game night! [no homework or blogging allowed!] We love Monopoly Deal!

Of course there are treats involved! What good is a game night without a dish of candy!

What do you like to do on Fridays?

:: a few notes:

- pic above was made using gimp. see how I made it HERE.

- ruffly headband from Gussy Sews

-sometime soon I want to test out this editable finger paint to keep sophie entertained!

My Business Adviser [husband]

The other day my Brian and I were driving to target and he started asking me questions about Key Lime. We sort of had an impromptu family business meeting at the stop light.  He started asking me about what custom design packages I offer and the prices. I told him I had two packages for blog designs, basic or super.

Brian: Maybe you should add a few different kinds of custom packages, like for bloggers who also have have online shops.

Me: Done. You are so smart.

Thanks to my business adviser [husband] the custom price page has been updated!

Speaking of my wonderful [very supportive] husband I thought it might be fun to post “Our Love Story”

hopefully it isn’t too gushy.

I was 18 and had two more months left in my senior year of high school.
Brian was 22 and home from serving an LDS mission.

On 4.29.07 I went to church with my family just like usual.
We sat in front of some friends, Alan and Danielle John.

Right as the opening hymn was about to start a young guy {Brian} came and sat down next to them. I tried to sneak a glance or two at him during the meeting but didn’t get a real good look at him until the meeting was over and Danielle introduced Brian to my mom and I. We all chatted for a second as we walked out of the chapel on our way to sunday school.

Sunday School was…. usually pretty boring. So I procrastinated going to class, got a drink went to the bathroom, and then eventually decided I better go find a seat.

Due to my procrastination I didn’t get to pick my own seat. My mom had saved me a seat….. right next to Brian.

By this point I had decided Brian was cute but I couldn’t quiet pin down how old he was. Finally, after all the meetings were over he asked for my phone number.

Obviously I happily gave it to him :)

Like any good mom, later that night my mom called Danielle to find out the details about Brian. Return Missionary. 22. Smart. Wants to be a doctor  [going to be a pharmacist]

He called me later that week and we went out on our first date. [bowling and I won!]
We had a great time and he asked me out on a second date.

After our second date he sent me flowers to me AT SCHOOL!
The office secretary called my name over the intercom and said I had something to pick up in the office. Pink Roses.

It was pretty much downhill [uphill?] from there. We spent everyday together.
Brian even came to my high school graduation!

We got married 12.29.07  in the SLC LDS Temple.

And now we are working on living happily ever after.

where did you meet your husband/boyfriend?

Do tell! I love “how we met stories!”

Today I just happen to be on twitter  and all the sudden the hashtag #crafterminds kept popping up everywhere! I was totally obliviously to what I had just stumbled upon!

A  weekly twitter chat [with some bloggers that I really admire] chatting about Blogging 101 and what they wish they knew when they first started blogging! [where have i been and why haven't I heard about #crafterminds before!]

Lucky day for me! So I joined in on the conversation and loved the advice! Here is a wrap up….

Blogging 101 via Crafterminds Twitter Chat

1. Be Yourself – Don’t waste time trying to be someone your not. It’s your blog. Love it and it will love you!

2. Buy Your Domain Name NOW – Lots of veteran bloggers were saying they wished they had bought their .com sooner. Many of them now have huge successful blogs but can’t have a .com because the domain name is already taken by someone else!

3. Practice taking photos – Blogs are so much more attractive with good [big] photos! I love to read Simple As That for good photography tips!

4. It is easy to get caught up in # of comments, pageviews, site ranking, etc … and  forget to write good blog content. Worry about the content, everything else will follow.

5. And lastly we talked about facebook landing pages. There is a super cool tutorial about how and why you should have a fb landing page. Check it out here!

I will definitely be tuning in for next weeks crafterminds twitter chat!

You can too! Next monday at 1pm pacific time! Use hashtag #crafterminds and come chat with me on twitter!

Do you have any blogging 101 tips you would like to share?
